SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Police Department, responding to a July 5 report of an infant unable to breathe, performed a series of emergency techniques that ultimately dislodged the material blocking the child's airway, which was loosened, and the infant was then able to breathe again.
Upon arrival, officers were met by the mother holding the infant at the curb. The child was turning blue and unable to cry or breathe. The responding Officer took the child from the mother and immediately began to administer back blows and chest thrusts.
The baby was transported to a local hospital for observation and made a full recovery.
