At Tuesday's Common Council meeting, my opponent David Dietze stood up and read a prepared campaign speech during the public comments part of the meeting. People come to Council meetings to voice their opinions about City business and to hear about the issues facing Summit.
This was neither.
In addition to being an inappropriate use of our Common Council's time and resources, Dietze blatantly disregarded the campaign rules that both political parties have agreed to in writing.
This is not the first time that Mr. Dietze has disregarded well established norms for campaigning in Summit. While I intend to stay positive and focused on the issues, this continued egregious behavior cannot be ignored. Summit deserves better.
