Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Overlook Celebrates Spring with Open House

Visitors and members of the general public are invited to learn about the high-quality, multidisciplinary services offered at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Overlook Hospital as it celebrates spring with an Open House on Wednesday, May 12.

Following a lecture titled, "Frankly Speaking About Cancer - Coping with the Cost of Care," the cancer center lobby will be open to visitors from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The lecture, presented by the Wellness Community, will provide a practical guide to navigating the numerous and complex challenges of managing the cost of cancer care. Irene Card, president and founder of MIC Insurance Services, and Betsy Chandler, vice president of MIC Insurance Services, will be featured speakers for the event. Ms. Card and Ms. Chandler have shared advice on the topics of insurance and cancer survivorship in newspaper columns and other venues.

As part of the springtime event, visitors will be invited to watch as the center's "Tree of Thanks and Giving" is transformed into a "Tree of Blossom Into Health." The tree, assembled from fallen branches by art students at Morristown Beard School, and decorated with "leaves" of artwork created by patients at the cancer center in Fall 2009, will now be re-decorated by patients with "flowers" of artwork for the spring.
