Central Presbyterian Church Hosts Slate of Events Starting Oct. 19


SUMMIT, NJ - Central Presbyterian Church, located at 70 Maple Street, has announced a series of upcoming community events beginning October 19.  

The events include:

October 19 - 8:45 a.m.
Dr. Allen Foster, formerly the interim Senior Pastor of Central Church, will speak on his recent book, Is God Real: Some Challenges for Atheists, Agnostics, and Believers Alike, in the Auditorium.  The public is welcome to attend this free event.

October 25 - 7 p.m.
High School Open Mic Night with Food Drive – High School students are invited to step up to the microphone, or just come and listen.  All styles and genres are welcome.  Finger foods will be served and the evening is free of charge.  To get in the evening’s lineup, email Adam Gilbert in advance at  Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to help feed the hungry.  Held in the Auditorium, starting at 7:00 p.m.

October 31 - 8:30 p.m.

Halloween Silent Movie Screening – Conclude Halloween evening watching the silent film classic, Phantom of the Opera, with live accompaniment by Dr. Charity Wicks on the church pipe organ in the Sanctuary.  Popcorn will be provided, and the admission is free of charge.

November 2 - 3:30 p.m.
Central Church, together with Continuo Arts Foundation, will present The Wisdom of Broadway in the Sanctuary.  Choirs and soloists will perform favorite numbers from hit Broadway shows such as WickedCarousel, and Sister Act.  Father Frank McNulty will discuss why these songs touch listeners so deeply.  The public is welcome to attend this afternoon of song and reflection.  A free-will offering will be accepted.
