SUMMIT, NJ - Roads construction projects throughout town will not begin until 9 a.m., cease at 2:30 p.m, and resume at 3:30 p.m to alleviate traffic congestion during drop-off and pick-up times for Summit area schools.
The City of Summit announced the revised scheduling adjustments, at a time when classes begin in Hilltop City schools and the Morris Avenue Bridge project remains in dry dock due to a bureaucratic impasse.
“It is important that we allow citizens to adjust to their back to school and work schedules without construction projects adding to delays throughout town,” said Summit Mayor Nora Radest. “With the added inconvenience of the Morris Avenue bridge closure, it is a priority to have as few impediments to pedestrian safety and traffic flow as possible.”
The City further stated that, even with the revised construction schedule, residents are reminded that it is important to allow extra time traveling in and around Summit. For more information on City of Summit construction projects, visit cityofsummit.org.
