SUMMIT, NJ - As Summit prepares to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, the City has detailed information pertaining to parking, Transfer Station operating hours, and other basic services.
Also, localized promotions as part of the national "Small Business Saturday" have been announced. Thanksgiving weekend "need to knows" for Summit residents include:
Parking Fees Waived
There will be no fees required in parking lots or at street meters November 26-28. Patrons are asked to adhere to specified time limits to allow for sufficient turnover of parking spaces.
Household Trash Pickup

Household trash pickup will occur on Thanksgiving Day, November 26.
There will be no curbside recycling pickup on November 26, pickups will occur on November 27.
Transfer Station Operating Hours
The Summit Transfer Station, located at 40 New Providence Road, will be closed on November 26, reopening November 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The facility will also be open November 28, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Small Business Saturday
Many downtown businesses will feature sales for the day, and Summit Downtown, Inc. (SDI) is hosting a raffle with a grand prize.
There will be a SDI table located in Promenade Park, adjacent to MONDO, where shoppers can exchange receipts from purchases made at downtown business for raffle tickets. Each receipt -- valued at $25 or higher -- receives one raffle ticket.
One winning ticket will be chosen from all raffle tickets issued, with the ticket holder receiving a $200 gift certificate good at downtown businesses, restaurants, or service providers.
