The City of Summit will be holding its annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Monday May 31, 2010. The parade will start from the parking lot behind the Bouras Properties building off DeForest Road at 10:00AM. There are currently 11 units marching in the parade, including Brownies, Cub Scouts, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Summit First Aid Squad, the Summit High School Band, Summit YMCA, Colonial Crossroads Red Cross, Summit P.A.L., Bridges Outreach and many of the Veterans who reside in Summit. The parade will wind its way through town, arriving at the Village Green at around 10:30 AM.

At approximately 10:30 AM the program will begin at the Showmobile on the Village Green. The featured speaker will be Commander Daniel Soldano, USNR of New Jersey. Within the ceremony will be the Laying of Wreaths by representatives of American Legion Post #322, Beacon Fire Chapter of D.A.R., and the Elks Lodge 1246. A special 2010 Commemorative Coin will be presented to every veteran during the Ceremony who attends.

All veterans are invited and encouraged to march in the Place of Honor at the front of the parade. The veterans are asked to be at the parking lot behind the Bouras Properties at 9:30AM on May 31st. The Summit YMCA is providing their bus at the starting point to carry any veterans who want to be in the parade but are not able to walk the entire parade route.
