SUMMIT, NJ - Close.By/Summit, a ground-breaking new app that enables consumers to find products, promotions and even parking in the Hilltop City in just seconds, has launched.

Whether it's a down jacket for the winter, a Pilates class, the latest restaurant specials, or convenient parking, Close.By/Summit connects consumers with businesses and, when consumers opt in, they receive special, limited-time and limited-quantity offers from local merchants.

The app is free to consumers, and now available in the iTunes Store. A sampling of current Close.By/Summit launch partner offers include:

- Free cappuccino or latte at Ahrre’s in the Wine Store
- Free chocolate-covered pretzel at Sweet Nothings
- Free dessert at Hat Tavern
- Free day pass at the Summit Area Y
- Free Cookie with each salad or sandwich when using curbside pickup at Batavia Cafe
- 20% off at the Toy Professor

To claim most of these offers, some of which are in limited quantities, consumers simply need to display the app from their phone to the business while the offer is still posted on the app, or while supplies last.

Close.By/Summit users can search for -- and find -- virtually anything in town, even things that search engines like Google may not index. Users can also specify the types of alerts and offers that they want, and merchants can deliver offers and messages based on time and location.

Launch partners and sponsors in Summit include: Towne Realty Group, The Summit Area YMCA, Hat Tavern, Salon 44, The Grand Summit Hotel, Ahrre’s Coffee, Salon 44, Doria Pizzeria, Village Trattoria, Lois Schneider Realtor, Lori Dahl (Coldwell Banker), and Alison Lees (Lois Schneider Realtor), and Summit Downtown, Inc.  Other registered businesses that are currently providing offers include Bar Method, Center for Wellbeing, COO on Demand, Fembot, Kidville, Liss Printing, Makeovers, Momentum Cycling and Fitness, Murray & Finn, The Connection for Women and Families, Smallwood Financial, and Tide Dry Cleaners, with additional merchants joining daily.

TAPinto Summit is a promotional partner with Placecodes, the app's developer.

The app's developers are also offering local businesses, through December 31, free access to all available tools. For more information, or to register, visit Close.By's registration page or call 908-248-4321.

Fear of Rising Rates? Remember The Reason You Own Bonds

If the current interest environment has you concerned about your bond portfolio, remember why you are investing in bonds.  The role bonds, or fixed income, play in a portfolio is not solely based on performance.  Bonds are used to offer stability, particularly when stock market volatility is rising. If your son or daughter is turning 18, here are a few things you need to know:

If you have an UGMA/UTMA savings account for your child, did you know those assets are his/her legal property and once that instrument matures (most often 21 years old or 18, if you designated that at time of account creation), those assets are at your child’s disposal with no restrictions or ...

Extra Time

It was close to 70 minutes into the match and I had to go to the bathroom.  Badly.

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
