794,700 LIVES

impacted by Rise Against Hunger meals and other aid in 2018

across the world don't receive enough nutrition to lead an active healthy life

Join the Summit YMCA in partnership with the Central Presbyterian Church and the Summit Area Lions Club to package meals that will serve 25,000 individuals in the United states and abroad. It is a fun afternoon suitable for all (over the age of 6 with accompanying adult). You can stand or sit while assembling the food packets, and does not require any heavy lifting, etc.

Rise Against Hunger meal packaging volunteers produce millions of nutritious meals annually that are then distributed to partners in countries around the world. Those partners are best able to address the causes and effects of hunger based on their local presence and expertise. Through Rise Against Hunger's thorough monitoring and evaluation process, they ensure the meals distributed by those partners are used as a tool to change lives by promoting education, improving students’ health and nutrition, addressing gender inequalities, stimulating economic growth and fighting child labor.

About the Summit Area YMCA

The Summit Area YMCA is one of the area’s leading 501(c)(3) charitable organizations. Founded in 1886, the Summit Area YMCA has a history steeped in working side-by-side with our neighbors to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income and background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Each year, we serve more than 10,000 individuals with our free and fee-based programs and services in an area spanning the communities of Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Millburn, New Providence, Short Hills, Springfield, Stirling and Summit. Through the generosity of our members, donors, and partners, we are able to offer financial assistance for our programs and services to those with demonstrated need.
