SUMMIT, NJ - Three stories of construction scaffolding collapsed at 466 Springfield Avenue, with gusty winter winds likely contributing to the accident. No injuries were reported.

The Summit Fire Department (SFD) responded to the scene amid reports of a hazardous condition. Upon arrival, SFD units found a three-story building under construction, with the initial evaluation revealing construction scaffolding had collapsed onto a driveway leading to the adjacent Tier Parking garage.

Upon further investigation, fire personnel determined another section of scaffolding -- still attached to the building -- was posing a risk of separating from the building and had the potential of collapsing.

As a precaution, the sidewalk, driveway, and a portion of Springfield ave around the building was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Inspectors from the construction company and the City of Summit were contacted to conduct an on-site evaluation.

There appears to be minimal damage to the property.
