SUMMIT, NJ - One of the largest daffodil collections in New Jersey will be on display when Reeves-Reed Arboretum (RRA) hosts its Annual 'Daffodil Day' April 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The collection, planted in the Arboretum’s glacially carved ‘kettle’ or bowl, was started in the early 1900s by The Wisners, the original owners of the property. Today, it boasts more than 50,000 bulbs and attracts visitors from all over the Tri-State area.
An outdoor farmer’s market with vendors and food trucks, 'green themed' crafts and games, the return of the Bond Street Theatre’s Shinbone Alley Stilt Band -- which play an eclectic repertoire of Dixieland, Swing, Rock, Jazz and Blues, all while walking on stilts -- and a stilt walking workshop will also be on the day’s agenda.
The Arboretum's newest brood of baby goats, will also be on hand.
The event is free to RRA members, in part due to funding from Investors Bank. Admission for non-members is $10 per person or $25 per family. For more information, visit reeves-reedarboretum.org or call 908-273-8787, ext. 1515.
