SUMMIT, NJ - Field Station: Dinosaurs, is set to visit both the Summit Free Public Library as part of the 2014 Summer Library Tour, as well as Summit’s Village Green as part of a special edition of the 2014 Screen on the Green Movie Series on August 14.

Field Station: Dinosaurs, is a Secaucus-based, world-class family attraction that teaches kids about our world through the science and story of dinosaurs.  The Summit stop is one of 14 such visits this Summer, and celebrate the New Jersey Summer Reading Program, which is linked to a national initiative entitled "FIZZ, BOOM, READ!"

The Summit Free Public Library, located at 75 Maple Street, will host a Dinosaur Egg Hunt, a fun and interactive Paleozoic adventure, beginning at 3:30 p.m.  Dinosaur Troubadour of Field Station: Dinosaurs, will then join everyone inside the children’s annex for a special story time, sing-a-long, and dance party.  Afterwards, attendees can head outside and come face-to-face with an unbelievably life-like, 15-foot Mighty T-Rex.

Due to indoor space restrictions, the Summit Library will welcome visitors inside the annex for the Dinosaur Egg Hunt and Story time with Dinosaur Troubadour on a first-come, first-served basis.  Event-goers are therefore encouraged to arrive early.
“‘FIZZ, BOOM, READ!’ is a great summer reading program, and we’re proud to be a part of it,” said Guy Gsell, executive producer of Field Station: Dinosaurs.  "It’s important to challenge kids and to keep them learning all summer long,” said Gsell.  “At Field Station: Dinosaurs, that’s what we do.  The history of paleontology is one of science’s great mystery stories—with intrigue, unexpected twists and brilliant detectives who crack the case.  Of course, we’ll also be bringing along a walking, roaring T-Rex just to make things interesting.”

Following the Summer Library Tour, sponsored by Investors Savings Bank, the Summit Department of Community Programs will present the first-ever Screen on the “Jurassic” Green Movie Series.  Both the Mighty T-Rex and the Dinosaur Troubadour will make their way to the Village Green in time to catch The Croods on the big screen.  Dance and take pictures with the dinosaurs, then kick back and enjoy this prehistoric comedy adventure on a giant 36’ x 24’ outdoor screen.  The Dinosaur Dance Party will begin at 7:30 p.m. , with the movie starting after dark.

For more information, including a full schedule of events for August 14, visit www.cityofsummit.org/recreation, or call the Summit Department of Community Programs at 908 / 277-2932.
