Dive Right In: Summit Area YMCA Swim Team Tryouts Set for July 25

SUMMIT, NJ - Children and teens ages 6-18 years of age will have the opportunity to join the Summit Area YMCA Swim Team, where they will participate as a team in YMCA meets and championships. The Y's competitive swim program helps athletes develop their talents in and out of the pool, with an emphasis on not only competitive swimming, but also encouraging hard work, dedication, and team skills.

The tryout schedule s as follows:

Main tryout date is July 25 - makeup date is September 5

Sign Up for E-News

Ages 8 & Under

5 p.m. -  Registration
5:30 p.m. -  Tryout - Swimmers will swim 25 yards of all four competitive strokes

Ages 9 - 10

6 p.m. -  Registration
6:30 p.m. -  Tryout - Swimmers will swim 50 yards of all four competitive strokes

Ages 11 - 12

7 p.m. -  Registration
7:30 p.m. -  Tryout - Swimmers will swim 50 yards of all four competitive strokes

Ages 13 - 18

7 p.m. -  Registration
7:30 p.m. - Tryout - Swimmers will swim 100 yards of all four competitive strokes

The cost to tryout is $25, with accepted Summit Area YMCA Swim Team swimmers requiring a $100 deposit by July 31. Full payment is due September 9, with practices starting September 11.

Pre-registration can be completed at the Summit YMCA Member Services desk, and registration will also be accepted on day of tryouts, which will be held at the Summit Area YMCA's Hurst Pool, located at 67 Maple Street.
