CLARK, NJ - The Summit High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team used a dynamic third-quarter performance to turn a five-point halftime lead into a 23-point bulge and went on to win big at AL Johnson, 50-29. Sophomore Olivia Lawlor (22 points, 11 rebounds) and junior Sarah Maldonado (14 and 8) combined for 36 points and 19 rebounds to pace the Hilltoppers, now 6-4 on the season.

The Maroon and White led 9-3 at the end of the first quarter and 20-15 at the half, then exited the locker room post-break and dominated the third stanza to the tune of a 20-2 blitz-waltz. Leading 40-17, the fourth quarter became an eight-minute victory lap for The 'Top.

Senior captain Sylvie Goudreau had nine rebounds as the girls from the 07901 were 'Windex Warriors', snaring 43 'boards on the night.

Ashley Samsel was a bright spot for the home team, netting 13 points -- including three treys -- and grabbing seven rebounds.

Summit next heads to New Providence January 16 to take on the undefeated Pioneers (11-0). Game time is set for 7 p.m.
