SUMMIT, NJ - Work along Springfield Avenue to replace handicapped ramps and repair deteriorated sections of sidewalk and curbs will now be conducted overnight, from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m., September 14 - 17.

The scheduling change was initiated by the Department of Community Services in an attempt to reduce disruption from the construction work on businesses in the downtown.

Nighttime repair work will begin at the intersection of Maple Street and Springfield Avenue on September 14 and proceed toward Beechwood Road. Roads in the area will be subject to complete closure during nighttime work. At 7 a.m., roads will reopen with possible lane closures, until 10 a.m., to permit crews to complete concrete finishing work.

After repairs on this section of Springfield Avenue are complete, work will continue on Springfield Avenue between Beechwood Road and Summit Avenue.

Additional information on the construction project, and a timeline of repairs by block, is available at cityofsummit.org. City staff and Police will be on site during overnight hours, and residents with any questions or concerns should contact the Engineering Department at 908-273-6404.
