SUMMIT, NJ - The 2019 Summit Public Schools 'Teachers of the Year' have been announced, with each Hilltop City public school campus selecting one teacher for special recognition. The eight educators -- who have collectively dedicated more than 120 years to the District -- will be formally honored at the June 13 Summit Board of Education meeting.
The 2019 honorees include:
Representing the Primary Centers, Calkins is an ESL Teacher at both Wilson and Jefferson. Of her 13 years in education, the last five have been in the Summit Public Schools.
Currently a 2nd Grade Teacher at Brayton Elementary School. She has taught 20 years, 13 of which have been in the Summit Public Schools.
Currently a Special Education Teacher at Franklin Elementary School. Of her 20-year career, she has worked 11 years in the Summit Public Schools.
Currently a Grade 1-3 Science Teacher at Jefferson Elementary School. She has taught 24 of her 29 years in Summit.
Currently a Learning Workshop Teacher at Lincoln-Hubbard Elementary School. She has spent four of her five years teaching in the Summit Public Schools.
Currently a 1st Grade Teacher at Washington Elementary School. Thirty-two of her 36 years in education have been spent in the Summit Public Schools.
Currently a 7th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School. Fifteen of his 17 years teaching have been in the Summit Public Schools.
Currently a Summit High School French Teacher. She has worked 19 years in the Summit Public Schools.
