NEWARK, NJ — Accused of posting messages on various social media platforms threatening violence in Livingston, John Coulouris, 18, of Hackensack has been arrested and charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child by distributing child pornography, invasion of privacy, terroristic threats and two counts of cyber harassment.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and Livingston Police Chief Craig Handschuch announced today that detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office arrested Coulouris at his home on the evening of Sept. 19.

Coulouris is currently being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility with bail set at $175,000 -- no 10 percent -- by the Honorable Michael Ravin, Judge of the Superior Court.

The matter came to the attention of the Livingston Police Department when concerned citizens reported postings on various social media networks threatening “judgment day” at Livingston High School.

Although Livingston police deemed all threats to be “non-credible,” security was heightened throughout the district and a two-hour delayed opening was executed at the high school on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Teachers and staff stepped up to ensure that all students felt safe and secure throughout the week.

The threats of violence to Livingston High School on or about Sept. 6 and continuing through Sept. 12 were never carried out, but additional charges against the accused may be forthcoming. Coulouris faces five-to-10 years in New Jersey State Prison if found guilty of the charges, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation is active and ongoing. It should be noted that all charges against Coulouris are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Anyone with additional information should contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide / Major Crimes Task Force tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.

Is FAANG Long in the Tooth?

Investors love to rally around a stock story. Today it’s all about the FAANG stocks. Facebook (FB), Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), Netflix (NFLX) and Google (GOOG) are a major reason why the S&P 500 rallied so much in 2017. Mr. Market is convinced the FAANGs are impervious to a sell-off. “Its different this time” is ringing loud and clear, but will the outcome really be that ...
