SUMMIT, NJ - Sophomore Eliza Rustum and senior Rachel Schwartz, doubles partners on the Summit High School (SHS) Tennis team, have earned All-State honors.
The duo, who went 17-4 this season for the Hilltoppers, were named to the All-State Third Team, and earned high praise from Head Coach Vincent Turturiello.
"Rachel is an outstanding player who has been a four-year varsity letter winner. She started her career at third singles, where she defeated a Union County Champion from Westfield. As a doubles player she excelled as a steady ground stroke competitor setting up her partner."
Of Rustum, Turturiello said, "Eliza a steady net player who has tremendous reflexes and eye hand coordination, she is well respected by her teammates and competitors."
The SHS Tennis Team finished the season with a 15-5 record and, at one point during their campaign, was ranked as high as ninth in the state.
