The turf replacement project at Investors Bank Field -- which began in early July and came with a $635,000 price tag -- has been completed, with the field and the adjoining track both re-opening August 26.
In addition to a new surface that incorporates the latest advances in artificial turf technology, the project includes new goal posts, soccer goals and safety fencing, all installed by Desso Sports Systems. The previous field had been in place for 12 years.
The effort was managed by the Summit Department of Community Programs and designed by Tom Miller of Moorestown-based Premier Product Development, a sports field development firm that also shaped the renovation of the Tatlock Tennis Courts, which debuted in June. The artificial turf replacement project was funded through the City of Summit Capital Improvement Plan with grant assistance from Union County Kids Recreation Trust Fund and Field Restoration Fund.
Continuing work at Investors Bank Field complex will include asphalt repairs to paved surfaces, and new sound system and bleacher seating.
