I strongly support Susan Dillingham Hairston 2011 At Large Candidate for Summit, NJ Common Council. My desire to garner support for her is based on observing her personal and professional development over the years since I became a member of the community in 1984 and a member of Fountain Baptist Church in 1985.
I have had the privilege of working with her in organizations and on boards that afforded me an opportunity to appreciate her philosophy and perspective regarding policies and programs that are beneficial to whole community and yet sensitive to the needs of the least amongst us. She is a strong negotiator that believes in the long term benefits of relationship, partnership, collaboration and the building of coalitions that continue to serve and empower the community to solve problems.
If you care about the welfare of our city, then I invite you to invest some time in getting to know Susan Dillingham Hairston for such a time as this. There is evidence of good character, sound judgment, problem solving skills, and effective leadership in her professional career and in executive level positions held in various Summit community service organizations. The same set of competencies and level of commitment can be observed being deployed in her personal life as it relates to her engagement with family, church and the local community.
As we “seek the welfare of the city (Jeremiah 29:7)”, I encourage you to be informed by the evidence of demonstrated leadership skills that Susan Dillingham Hairston will bring to the table to navigate the course to achieve new standards of governance. Once you are aware and well informed, I trust that you will make the right choice!
