The Farmstead Players will read three one-act plays by Irish poet, playwright and statesman William Butler Yeats on Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at 7 p.m. at Farmstead Arts Center, 450 King George Road, Basking Ridge.
Directed by William Ward, Land of Hearts Desire, The Countess Cathleen and Cathleen Ni Houlihan will be read by Alan Gershenson, Catie Shelley, David Neal, Ed Schroeder, Elizabeth Buckley, Elizabeth Elkind, Joel Redmount, Juliet Brines, Lisa Black, NJ McBride-Wallace, Pat Busch and Peter Curley. Yeats (1865 – 1939), a driving force behind the Irish Literary Revival and founder of the Abbey Theatre, won the Noble Prize for literature in 1923.
The Farmstead Players’ public monthly reading series is free, but contributions are gratefully accepted. The reading on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 is Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
