FC Motown Joins NPSL; 2018 Schedule Announced, Begins with May 9 U.S. Open Cup Match

MORRISTOWN, NJ - FC Motown, the Morristown-based soccer club -- and the latest expansion team to join the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) -- is set to kick-off its inaugural NPSL campaign May 19 when it takes on FC Monmouth at their home -- Ranger Stadium at Drew University in Madison.

The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is the successor to the Men's Premier Soccer League (MPSL), which was formed in 2002. The league started in the West Region with teams from the Northern California area. In 2014, NPSL became the largest national soccer league in the US Soccer development pyramid with over 80 teams all over the country. Over 30 expansion teams joined the NPSL for the 2014 season, and the league is nearing the entrance of its 100th team.

It includes some of the best soccer clubs in this country including Detroit City, Chattanooga, Jacksonville Armada and Miami United. These clubs attract thousands of supporters per game and are fervently followed.

Prior to taking on FC Monmouth, FC Motown will be taking on the New York Red Bulls U23 in the first round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. That match is scheduled for May 9 at 7 p.m. and will also be played at Ranger Stadium.

Coach Sacir Hot had the following to say about the match up "We are thrilled to be playing a PDL powerhouse like Red Bulls U23 in the Lamar Hunt Cup at Drew University. The 2017 Red Bulls U23 team placed an astounding nine players on pro rosters this year. I came up through the Red Bulls Academy and have fond memories of it. It will be quite a game and we will be ready for it."

The team is looking to build off an excellent finish last season, in which they were one of the top 70 teams in the entire country. After bringing back key players from last year's squad, as well as making new signings this off season, FC Motown is looking to make even bigger strides in 2018.

Season tickets are priced at $10 for youth and just $50 for adults, and include an official team scarf. Individual tickets, which are available at the stadium on match-days, are priced at $2 for youth and $10 for adults.
