SUMMIT, NJ - Food, fun and fireworks were joined together, hand-in-hand, as Summit got its Independence Day on in grand style at the Hilltop City's 70th Annual Fourth of July celebration.

In 2016, weather was not the friend of the 07901, as stormy conditions caused the fireworks part of the equation to be canceled. But not this year. The big bang conclusion went off without a hitch, lighting up the night sky above Memorial Field.

The sparkling show was the finale of day that saw The Infernos light up the stage with a sizzling set of songs just prior, and the community be-bopped throughout the park, sampling bites to eat from the assembled vendors and families participating in games and other, sundry amusement activities.

The Platinum Anniversary edition of the Summit star spangled spectacular was a day-long celebration that included the Children’s Decorated Bicycle parade in the morning, with the park shutting down at 1 p.m. to prep for the ka-boom fest that Hilltoppers of all ages had waited two years for.
