We at the Summit Area YMCA believe in the importance of not only water safety, but the benefits of a healthy lifestyle from practicing water exercise in a welcoming and inclusive environment. To ensure that everyone in the community has the opportunity to lead a healthy lifestyle, the Summit YMCA will be holding a free day of water exercise classes for all to try. At the Y, we know that helping individuals be the best version of themselves helps to contribute to the foundations of a stronger, more connected community.

Join one of our many water exercise classes on Tuesday, May 30 to enjoy a great low impact workout. Water exercise can also aid in physical therapy. Loosen up stiff joints or help lessen arthritic pain with the helpful, friendly guidance of our Swim Instructors. The Summit Area YMCA offers anything from intense cardio exercises to more relaxing exercises focusing on breathing, balance, and flexibility.

For Ann Romanovsky, Summit YMCA member, she has also witnessed the benefits of the water exercise classes in her health with great results. "I joined Just Treading and other water exercise classes because they are high energy workouts that are also kind on my knees. In just one year, I am so much healthier--I have more stamina and I've made some great friends at the Y. Best of all, I've lost 20 lbs and I am still continuing to exercise. Yay me!"

My So-Called Graduation

The last of my children graduated from high school.

My son and daughter threw their caps high into the air and cheered their liberation from one symbolic institution before contemplating their matriculation into other, much larger institutions significantly further away.
