SUMMIT, NJ - As issues and developments surrounding the environment rise to occupy a major portion of the geopolitical headlines, a local group -- Green Summit -- has been formed. Self-described as "the volunteer Green Team" of the Hilltop City, Green Summit's stated goal is "Keeping Summit Sustainable."
Green Summit will provide support to the City's Environmental Commission "to achieve Sustainable Jersey goals, aim to educate our community about sustainable living, and make our town a healthier, "greener" place to call home."
The group's mission includes gathering and disseminating information for and to Summit residents, business owners, and service providers, with details on composting, how to start a vegetable garden, home energy audits, and organic lawn care currently featured on the organizations's website.
The group states that, "We are committed to being the stewards of our environment -- reducing our carbon footprint, implementing 'green' alternatives in our daily lives, and continually educating ourselves and each other to do the same. Even small changes have a big impact,"
Green Summit will be at the Summit Farmers Market June 4, from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
