SUMMIT, NJ - Girls Lacrosse Team member Helen Louise Johnson and Volleyball's Alex Knight have been honored as Summit High School Athletes of the Week, presented by TAPinto Summit, for the week ending May 14.
Each week throughout the school athletic year, an athlete or athletes will be honored for distinguishing themselves in the arena of competition, in the classroom, and for demonstrating exemplary, Hilltopper-caliber sportsmanship and leadership qualities.
Already a key contributor, Johnson has elevated her play to an entirely new level this season, developing into one of the top, two-way midfielders in the state. She contributed a hat trick in both the County Final and in The Maroon and White's win against Morristown to end the regular season. Johnson is also one of the team's leaders -- both on and off the field -- and is an outstanding student.
Knight has been a force at the net for the Hilltoppers, leading the team in 'kills' by putting away an average of 10 balls per game. In late April, he had back-to-back games with 11 kills each then, later in the month, put down 15 balls against Vernon.
