SUMMIT, NJ - High school senior Alec Feinsot had an idea. Bring his love of theatre to the community via a teen production company he dubbed "Shining Star Players."

Feinsot, a senior at Governor Livingston High School, has turned his dream into reality, although he admits, “The logistics have by no means been easy- - from starting a Gofundme campaign, applying for grants, getting a theatre venue, rehearsal space, licensing fees paid, finding like-minded theatre loving teens to help cast, choreograph, and so on --  but I know the payoff by the time Opening Night comes will be worth every second put into this Company.”

That time -- opening night -- is nearly at hand, as "Shining Star Players'" inaugural production, "The Addams Family" is set to debut at Summit's Oakes Center March 11 - 13. The musical comedy features teens, aged 12-18, from throughout New Jersey, including Summit, Bridgewater, Chatham, Clinton, Maplewood, Millburn, Short Hills, Montclair, Totowa, and Westfield.

"The Addams Family" premiered on Broadway in 2010 starring stage and screen actors, Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth. The hysterical musical comedy played to packed Broadway houses for more than 700 performances before embarking on a National Tour. The show’s creative team polished off the book, lyrics and storyline, spicing up the content for broader appeal.

The Addams Family features an original story, and is every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother.

Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.

Any fan of the movies, television show, or cartoonist, Charles Addams, will be revel in the hilarious new take on comedy’s first family.

Show times are March 11 at 7:30 p.m., March 12 at 2 p.m., and March 13 at 3 p.m. Tickets, priced at $15 for adults and $12 for seniors / children under 12, are available by visiting brownpapertickets.com.

The Oakes Center is located at 120 Morris Avenue.
