MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ - Gardeners can learn about harvesting and preparing home grown vegetables via a new class -- “Harvesting and Food Safety in the Vegetable Garden” -- offered by the Master Gardeners of Union County that includes a free tour of the Union County Demonstration Garden in Mountainside.
All gardeners, from beginner to expert, are welcome to attend the free class. The Master Gardeners of Union County is a volunteer organization run by the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Union County.
The "Harvesting and Food Safety in the Vegetable Garden" class and garden tour will be held August 9, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Demonstration Garden, located in the Watchung Reservation by the Trailside Nature and Science Center, at 452 New Providence Road in Mountainside. Free parking is located at the site.
The program is free but pre-registration is required by visiting tinyurl.com/Rutgers-Vegetable-Series.
