In Season Opener, Summit H.S. Speech & Debate Team Takes Second at Yale Tourney

The Summit High School Speech and Debate Team finished second -- out of 250 schools -- at the Yale Invitational.

SUMMIT, NJ - Forty Summit High School students, competing in nine events, accumulated points by advancing to elimination rounds and placing in the final rounds. to earn the Hilltopper Speech and Debate Team a top sweepstakes trophy, placing second out of 250 schools at the prestigious Yale Invitational. 
 
The three-day, national circuit competition attracted schools from 28 states and five countries. Twenty-two of the Summit High School students advanced to elimination rounds, including:
 
Public Forum Debate

- Caroline Wohl and Ethan Mandelbaum, Double Octos (top 32 teams out of 225)
- Wohl also won Ninth place in the speaker award category (out of 500)
