Jazz Concert at Christ Church – Lile Series – Next Saturday Night!

An exciting event has been created to kick off the fall season at Christ Church – a Jazz Concert on Saturday, Sept 17, at 7:30 in the Sanctuary.

The concert features the Billy Drummond Quartet, with four of the most eminent musicians on today’s Jazz scene --Mulgrew Miller on piano, Tim Ries on sax, François Moutin on bass, and Billy Drummond on drums.    Also performing is the Dan Rufolo Trio – whose members are exceptional musicians in their own right, but who are starting out in their careers.  The Trio is led by Danny Rufolo, familiar to those of you who attend the second service at Christ Church.

Tickets are available online at the Christ Church website (www.ccsnj.org/jazz), and will also be sold at coffee hour between the two services this Sunday.  (Yes!  We’re back to double services this Sunday.)   Cost is $25 Adults, $20 Students.   Please reserve early!

Tim RiesWe recognize that this is short notice, but this unique opportunity came our way only late this summer.  We hope you will find time -- or make time -- to attend.   Please bring your teen-agers, they’ll enjoy it too!   Please tell friends, neighbors and relatives about this wonderful concert!

Since Jazz is improvised in performance, we can’t tell you exactly what will be performed, but it will include a mixture of lyrical ballads, up-tempo numbers, ensemble & solo playing. These four musicians have extensive experience performing and recording around the world, and have major presence on the Internet, as does the Dan Rufolo Trio.   To get a flavor of their playing, you can find links to their websites and several videos at our webpage www.cssnj.org./jazz, or just search with www.Google.com and www.YouTube.com.    Or see the sampling of links we have collected for you below.

We’re certain you’ll enjoy it.   Please come!    Reserve early at www.ccsnj.org/jazz
