Student Emma Simon and her mom, Nancy, were among the more than 200 guests who attended the end-of-year picnic at The Summit Primary Center at Jefferson on June 4. Four hundred hot dogs, 200 hamburgers, two sheet cakes, 12 gallons of lemonade, and bags upon bags of chips were among the feast served at the picnic, which was sponsored by the school's PTO.

The event was organized by parent Patty Staunton, whose son, Michael, attends the center, and a crew of parent volunteers. Parents brought blankets, and children played on the school lawn and playground, which was donated by the Summit Education Foundation (SEF), when the Primary Center opened last year. PTO President John Stauton was in charge of the grill.
