Since the 2005-06 school year, Franklin Elementary School -- through "Jump Rope for Heart" activities -- has raised a whopping $72,000 for the American Heart Association. After raising more than $10,000 last year, the flying Falcons set even loftier goals this year.
As part of the initiative, for a week, Franklin students learned about heart health in their Physical Education classes while strengthening their own hearts. Lessons included students visiting various jumping stations, designed to to get their heart rates elevated.
