SUMMIT, NJ - Summit Soccer Club’s U12 boys soccer team -- dubbed the 'Bhoys' -- enjoyed a fantastic ride to the Finals of the inaugural New Jersey Youth Soccer’s Commissioners State Cup. The season-long tournament featured 16 top teams from across the state, with the 'Bhoys' from Summit beating travel teams from Morris County, Gloucester County, and Bergen County to reach the Final.
In the ultimate match, the 'Bhoys' battled Marlton Soccer Club Lightening and -- despite a dominant performance -- the Soccer Gods decided it was not to be, and the 'Bhoys' dropped a tough 1-0 result.
Summit began the match brightly, creating chances, only to see Marlton score the game’s only goal on a wind-aided shot that sailed high into the net. Undaunted, the 'Bhoys' continued to threaten, generating chance after chance. In the second half alone, Summit had 10 corners and a dozen more opportunities to score, but the ball could not find the back of the net.
They will now look to continue their winning ways for the remainder of their season, as they currently sit in second place in the top flight of the Morris County Youth Soccer league. The 'Bhoys' roster includes:
Tripp Allan Johnston
Dave Stapleton of Maestro Soccer professionally trains the 'Bhoys'.
Summit Soccer Club was also represented in New Jersey State Cups at different age groups by 'Summit City' who advanced to the Quarter Finals of the U11 Boys Commissioners Cup. Summit 'Freedom' competed in the U11 Girls Commissioners Cup, and Summit 'Azzurri' played in the round of 16 for the U13 Boys Presidents Cup.
