Artspace@MONDO will be presenting works by New Jersey artist, Marjan Nirou Saniee, November 3rd through January 5th.  Nirou Saniee's work combines essentialized images of vessels and fruit with a passion for color and texture.  She explores the textural possibilities of wood through carving and lifting of layers of plywood.  Her imagery creates a world where fruits and vessels become existential stand-ins for a distant memory or idea.  In her small multi-media drawings of vessels on wood, she draws on the rich historic record of artifacts from ancient Persia.  It is as if through meticulously drawn images of Achaemenian vessels and Sufi begging bowls she is attempting to connect her past with the present.

Artspace@MONDO, a loft-like space in the heart of Summit, NJ, is dedicated to fostering art and culture in the community. A reception for the artist will take place on Sunday, November 10th, 5:30 – 7:30 PM.   Viewings open to the public through January 5th: 12noon to 2pm M-F. Other times available by appointment: 917-969-4534.  Artspace@MONDO is located at 426 Springfield Avenue, Summit NJ 07901.
