As we (fingers crossed) leave behind April showers for May flowers, the mood turns even more upbeat as the dress code gets even more relaxed.

It’s springtime in 'Jersey. Time to take in the fresh air... time for getting together with friends and family... time for celebration. And Summit’s own HAT Tavern wants to continue to be part of this special time of year for Summit’s residents, and those in surrounding towns.

“You know it’s springtime in New Jersey when the tables begin to fill up under the ten on our outdoor patio,” says HAT Tavern General Manager Walter Curtis. “You would think it’s the Jersey Shore the way people flock to the tables comfortably positioned on the quiet space we occupy in the back of the hotel.”

This extension of the historic Grand Summit Hotel has become a destination location for great times and equally great food, and an introduction to the Hotel itself for many people unfamiliar with the area, occupying a location that is just steps from the bustling downtown that have become a business Mecca and which features some of the country’s biggest names in consulting and finance that have taken or built offices in the 'super zip code'.

The Hotel and HAT Tavern sit just outside the downtown proper which creates a feeling of exclusivity from the bigger picture. To give it a pulse that can be felt by the millennial set making the downtown their place of business, the cozy HAT Tavern maintains a stable of acts eager to entertain and appealing to the varying demographics the eatery attracts.

“We are always amazed when someone tells us they never knew this place existed,” says Assistant Manager Maggie McGuire. “The Hunt Club which existed in the HAT space before it, occupied the space since 1929, so there is certainly a footprint in the town that goes back forever.”
