SUMMIT, NJ - One of the world's most talented percussionists, drummer Andrés Forero -- from the Broadway hit “Hamilton” -- came to Summit High School and shared his talent and experiences with students, telling them to “The most important thing is to carry yourself in a great way. To be a good person. Be passionate. Be kind. Be great.”

A Summit Educational Foundation (SEF) grant, written by Summit High School music teacher Alex Bocchino, brought Forero to the Kent Place Boulevard campus, with his appearance including Forero performing excerpts from "Hamilton" and "In the Heights."

He also shared inspiring stories of performing on Broadway and recording with world-class artists, while devoting much of the 90 minutes he spent with the students answering questions about everything from how long he practiced before performing in "Hamilton" to how he promotes himself as an artist.

The session took place in the Summit High School auditorium and was open to all students, with many of the 150-plus students coming and going as their class schedules permitted.
