Merck Awards SAGE Eldercare a $30,000 Grant

SAGE Eldercare was recently chosen to receive a $30,000 New Jersey Neighbor of Choice grant from the Merck Company Foundation. The award demonstrates Merck's interest to "Join SAGE Eldercare in our Communities" as SAGE continues on its mission to help older adults remain living in their own homes for as long as possible.

SAGE Eldercare, now in its 56th year of operation, offers twelve comprehensive programs and services that help seniors, caregivers and family members lead a healthy retirement and confront the challenges of aging. This grant will help SAGE provide these services free-of-charge for those living with low fixed incomes, both in seniors' homes and on-site at their Summit headquarters where the agency's Spend-A-Day Adult Day Health Center is located on the first floor of the facility.

"As a non-profit eldercare organization, SAGE helps clients access Medicaid and other financial aid, but these benefits only recover a portion of the cost of running the programs. General grants like this one from Merck help to make SAGE's work accessible for those who need our help the most," explains Jessica Rosenzweig, SAGE's Executive Director.

SAGE Eldercare is thankful to the Merck Foundation for contributing to SAGE and playing a critical role in helping eligible area seniors get the opportunity to resource SAGE's vital programs and services. SAGE Eldercare serves more than 5,000 older adults and their families annually in Union, Essex, Morris and parts of Somerset Counties.
