The Summit High School Performing Arts Department musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie” received 11 Rising Star Final Nominations - including Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical - from the Paper Mill Playhouse.
The Rising Star Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn. As one of the seven best musical finalists, the SHS actors will perform a number from the show on the Paper Mill stage!
11 Final Nominations, Three Honorable Mentions, Two Student Achievements
“This is the sixth consecutive year that a Summit High School production has received a final nomination for Best Overall Production of a Musical,” said theater arts teacher and production director Anne Poyner. “Last school year we graduated 40 cast, crew and pit members, so half of the “Millie” cast were freshmen and sophomores. This nomination is truly an honor, and we are very, very proud of this accomplishment.”
Other final nominations are, Best Director, Anne Poyner; Best Musical Direction, Wayne Mallette and Steve Rapp; Best Choreography, Kelly Mott-Sacks; Best Costumes, Katherine Winter; Best Set, Travis McHale; Best Lobby, Carol Hassert and crew; Best Supporting Actress, Melanie Porras; Best chorus, Wayne Mallette; Best Ensemble Group, ‘The Secretaries;’ Best Hair and Make-Up, Francesca Vignola and Christine Ciaravalli.
Student Achievement Nominations: Ben Tolles and Running Crew
Honorable Mentions: Best Actress, Mariah Dalton; Best Featured Actor, Matt Wong; Best Graphic Design, Betsy Mark and Rona Machlin.
