Several hundred green-minded volunteers sprung into action on Earth Day, sprucing up Hilltop City open spaces by picking up trash and recycling, as well as clearing trails an laying down copious amounts of wood chips.

Sponsored by the City of Summit Environmental Commission and conducted in partnership with the Washington Area Association and the Briant Park Olmsted Conservancy, Summit's Earth Day 2017 saw efforts performed at five locations: Briant Park, portions of Wilson Park, Martin's Brook Park, and the open spaces surrounding the Transfer Station near New Providence Avenue, Constantine Place, and Risk Avenue.

Mother Nature was appreciative, offering up a complimentary shower to cool off the group during the day.
