Laura Ekstrand will lead the "Improv for Business" class series.
SUMMIT, NJ - Listening sensitively. Responding spontaneously under unfamiliar circumstances. Presenting and promoting ourselves well when we don’t know exactly what the other person’s needs and interests are. All skills that can serve folks well in their professional lives.
Now business professionals can learn and hone these skills and have fun doing it, as Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, professional Theatre in Residence at the Oakes Center in Summit, will offer an "Improv for Business" class for adults, held one afternoon each of the next four months at MONDO. The first class begins February 26.
Laura Ekstrand -- who has been the Artistic Director of Dreamcatcher for the past twenty years, and has 13 years of experience as an improv performer and teacher -- will teach the four-session class, which runs Thursdays from 1-2:30 p.m. on February 26, March 26, April 30, and May 28.
The class uses the technique of improvisation to develop skills that all professionals need, with students learning how to turn tricky situations into opportunities for them to shine and to express themselves. The group will participate in exercises and games designed to improve their ability to listen, read body language, and truly collaborate.
The cost for this class is $120, and registration is available by visiting dreamcatcherrep.org, or by contacting Dreamcatcher at 908 / 514-9654. MONDO is located at 426 Springfield Avenue,
