The Summit Area YMCA invites all members of the community to celebrate Mother’s Day at the 11th annual Mother’s Day 5K Race/Walk to be held on Sunday, May 13 at Memorial Field in Berkeley Heights.  Hosted by the Berkeley Heights YMCA and Summit YMCA, proceeds from this year’s chip-timed, run will benefit the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Program, a 12-week, free, cancer recovery program for adult cancer survivors.

Runners are encouraged to run in honor of or in memory of a family member or friend whose life has been affected by cancer.  Runners can register online at as an individual or as a team.  A new fundraising component enables racers to raise funds online by creating their own friend-raising pages that allows racers to reach out to friends to support a cause that is meaningful to them.   The Mother’s Day 5K Race will follow its traditional USTAF-sanctioned route through Berkeley Heights neighborhoods, starting and finishing at Memorial Field.  The race start is at 9:00 am, with a Tot Trot scheduled for 10:00 am. Same day race registration is from 7:30 am to 8:30 am.  T-shirts are guaranteed to all who register by May 3.  This year’s Mother’s Day 5K will also include a 50:50 Raffle, tickets which can be purchased at the Berkeley Heights YMCA, the Summit YMCA or The Learning Circle YMCA.
