NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ -- The Mountain Valley Emergency Communications Center (MVECC), which acts as a communications link between the citizens of Summit, New Providence and Millburn, who need an emergency service response, and those law enforcement, fire, and medical response agencies that provide such services, has named its 2016 award recipients.
Among those honored by the Center's Executive Director Scott W. Ruf was Communications Officer II Anna Gruber, who was named Telecommunicator of the Year, making her the first recipient of what will now be an annual award. Gruber started her career with Maplewood Township in 2013 and joined the MVECC in 2015. She was promoted to Communication Officer II in 2016.
“She is always positive and strives to promote a positive work environment, said Ruf. "Anna knows the job very well and it shows in her day-to- day work whether she is dispatching, taking calls or working on other projects. Anna is always willing to help others and goes above and beyond in the work she does.”

Ruf added, "Many times these public safety telecommunicators are the first line of assistance when the community calls into the dispatch center. Although they are rarely seen and heard by the public, dispatchers for the various public safety entities are the 'behind the scenes' link between those in need and those that can help. As a result, every year, we celebrate and honor our Department’s dispatchers by recognizing their contributions to helping keep our county safe."
