I am both a Summit resident, and the owner of a Summit-based business. I have known David Naidu for eight years and am delighted to be supporting him for City Council in Ward 1. There is no one who will work harder and smarter for Summit.
Summit is at a crossroads. There are more empty storefronts than I have ever seen and the weaker the downtown appears, the more difficult it will be to attract new businesses, shoppers, and residents.
David has a plan to turn this around, starting with City Hall taking a more active role in shepherding new businesses through the process of establishing themselves, including streamlining the permitting process and continuing to check in once they're here. Further, he recommends engaging an Economic Development Officer to target and connect with businesses that can succeed in our city and to more effectively market Summit to businesses and shoppers alike. These initiatives are critical.
I have seen how tirelessly David has worked over the past months, walking Summit streets and speaking to hundreds of people. This is the approach he would take on Council – listening, hearing, and working with us to address our city's challenges.
We would be lucky to have David Naidu representing us and working for us. I urge you to vote for him on November 3.
