SUMMIT, NJ - Born and raised in the Hilltop City, and now nationally recognized, comedian Adam Sank will return to the Summit Elks Lodge June 18 to host "Lodge Laughter 6: The Wrath of Sank," a comedy show to raise funds for Elks charities.
Sank has hosted a stand-up show at the Elks Lodge since since 2010, and each time he brings along other professional New York City-based comedians.
“I can’t believe Summit people aren’t sick of me yet,” says Sank, whose parents, sisters, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and grandmother all still live in Summit. “I mean, how many more stories can I come up with to mortify and embarrass my family? But as long as people keep showing up to laugh, I’ll keep coming back.”
The headliner for the June 18 show will be Leighann Lord, who has been seen on ABC’s The View, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, and HBO’s original Def Comedy Jam, among many other television and radio appearances. Lord is a past recipient of the NYC Black Comedy Award for “Most Thought-Provoking Black Female Comic” and the author of several books, including "Dict Jokes: Alternate Definitions for Words You’ve Probably Never Heard of But Will Definitely Never Forget."
Also performing will be Joanne Filan (Comedy Time TV, HereTV’s Hot Gay Comics), and Ahri Findling (Funny or Die), a recent finalist in New York’s Laughing Devil Comedy Festival.
Sank says: “One of my favorite things about doing this show is bringing other comedians I love with me to Summit. New York has the best comedians in the world, but normally you’d have to go into the city to see them. So I feel like I’m bringing something really special to my hometown for a night.”
“Also, it’s kind of fun to see some of the people who bullied me in high school in the audience,” adds Sank, who graduated from Summit High School in 1989. “Now I get to make fun of them from the stage.”
Sank is one of the most recognized and accomplished openly gay stand-up comics in the country, having been featured on NBC's Last Comic Standing and The Today Show, FOX's Laughs, Vh1's I Love the 2000s and Best Week Ever, CNN's @ThisHour, CNBC's Street Signs and truTV's World's Dumbest Criminals, along with numerous radio appearances as both a guest and fill-in host on Sirius-XM satellite radio.
His debut comedy album, "Adam Sank: Live from the Stonewall Inn," was released on Christmas Day, 2015. It immediately shot to No. 1 on both Amazon's list of Comedy Album Downloads and iTunes'' New Comedy Releases. and was played in its entirety on Sirius-XM Raw Dog.
