SUMMIT, NJ - New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno will be the featured speaker at the Union County ELC meeting July 21. Guadagno is the Republican candidate for governor in the upcoming November election.

Guadagno earned her political science degree from Ursinus college and her law degree from American University. In 1988, she joined the United States Organized Crime Strike Force started by former U.S. Senator Robert Kennedy to root out organized crime and illegal racketeering. later rising to the position of an assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey in Newark.

From 1999 to 2001, she served as assistant attorney general for the State of New Jersey responsible for statewide criminal investigations and oversight of 300 prosecutors and investigators. In 2005, Guadagno was elected as a commissioner in the Borough of Monmouth Beach and, in 2007, she became the first woman elected sheriff in Monmouth County's history, and led the 650-member, $65 million law enforcement agency.
