HomeTowne TV host and Central Presbyterian Church pastor Noelle Kirchner sat down with NYT bestselling parenting author, Dr. Leonard Sax to discuss his newest book, The Collapse of Parenting.  Dr. Sax appeared at HomeTowne TV (HTTV) in mid-April for Noelle’s latest episode of her parenting series, Chaos to Calm.

As a parent, most of us want the best for our children, and with so much pressure and pitfalls along the way, knowing how to keep your children safe and out of trouble is top of mind. On this episode, Noelle and Dr. Sax dive into factors that can contribute to trouble such as: rising anxiety, depression, obesity, medication, and dropout rates.  While there is much to worry about as a parent, Dr. Sax’s insight offers hope that each of these effects can be statistically traced back to diluted parental authority and help is within your reach.  His inspiring message provides a lifeline how parents can take deliberative action to counter culture's most pervasive trends, and safeguard the future success for those they love and care about.  Show times for the interview are: Mon, Wed, Fri @ 3:00pm, Tues, Thur @ 9:30am, and Sun @ 7 & 9:30pm. Also on www.hometownetv.org on demand.

Dr. Sax is a graduate of MIT who earned his MD and PhD in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. His book is based upon over 90,000 office visits as a board-certified family physician. You can find him at www.leonardsax.com. You can find Noelle, who serves at Central Presbyterian Church in Summit as Parish Associate, at www.noellekirchner.com.  HTTV reaches over 500,000+ homes through Verizon/33 & Comcast 36.

Fear of Rising Rates? Remember The Reason You Own Bonds

If the current interest environment has you concerned about your bond portfolio, remember why you are investing in bonds.  The role bonds, or fixed income, play in a portfolio is not solely based on performance.  Bonds are used to offer stability, particularly when stock market volatility is rising. Rate hikes can dampen bond performance, but keep perspective on how rising rates impact ...

Extra Time

It was close to 70 minutes into the match and I had to go to the bathroom.  Badly.

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
