'Open Sing' Part of Concord Singers' First Fall Season Rehearsal Sept. 11

SUMMIT, NJ - Concord Singers, a women’s community chorus, will host an open sing at its first rehearsal of the fall season on September 11, beginning at 7:15 p.m., at Calvary Episcopal Church. The group offers a welcoming environment and friendly musical home to both novice and experienced singers. Members come from many age groups, professions and backgrounds, and new members are welcome with no audition required.

Concord Singers performs both sacred and secular music, ranging from the classical works of Elgar, Faure, and Britton to the more modern works of Alice Parker, Pablo Casals, Z. Randall Stroope, Clifton Noble, Jr. and George Gershwin.

The chorus is under the direction of Anna Lenti and accompanied by Caroline Parody. Lenti, recently-hired as conductor and artistic director, is a choral conductor, music educator and is, herself, talented soprano soloist. She is a full-time teacher at Kent Place School, private voice teacher, and has worked as the Assistant Conductor of the Oratorio Society of New York. She also co-founded the project-based ensemble "Ampersand."

Concord Singers gives two main concerts per year -- a holiday concert in December and a spring concert in May. The 2017 holiday concert is set for December 9, at 7 p.m., at Calvary Church.
