Our House, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization serving adults with developmental disabilities, welcomed volunteers from C.R. Bard’s headquarters in New Providence to the non-profit’s group home in Berkeley Heights June 14 for a community day clean-up.
Our House offers programs and services to individuals across New Jersey in towns including: Summit, Basking Ridge, Berkeley Heights, Bound Brook, Bridgewater, Livingston, Maplewood, Millington, New Providence, Newark, Union, West Orange, and Westfield.
Michele DelCorsano, CEO and President of Our House, Inc, said that this type of service is extremely valuable to the organization. “These corporate volunteers beautify the landscaping of our residences, which truly makes our clients feel proud to live in their homes,” she said.
The six employees from C.R. Bard planted flowers, mulched all around the house, trimmed shrubs and washed down the deck railings.
This was not the first time C.R. Bard employees visited this spring. A large group of volunteers also pooled together their efforts to spruce up Our House, Inc.’s group home in New Providence in April.
In addition, volunteers from Liberty Mutual donated their time to the non-profit earlier this spring. In May, a team from the company’s Roseland office visited Our House, Inc.’s newest group home in Livingston—which is home to four young adults with autism— to clean up the grounds as part of their “Serve With Liberty” community day.
The official mission of Our House, Inc. is to provide “healthy, stimulating, and inclusive environments for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through community residences, employment services, innovative day programs, social opportunities and related support services designed to help them achieve their full potential for living meaningful and productive lives.”
