Overlook Auxiliary's 2017 Kitchen Tour to Display an Array of Summit's Finest Homes

One of the show kitchens on the 2017 Overlook Auxiliary Kitchen Tour

The highly anticipated Overlook Auxiliary Kitchen Tour will be held on Thursday, October 26th from 10am to 3pm. Generously co-sponsored by Wilmington Trust, Lois Schneider Realtor, and Short Hills TWIG #27, all proceeds from the biennial tour will directly benefit the patients and families of Atlantic Hospice. By showcasing some of the beautiful kitchens and homes in the Summit area, we hope to raise significant funds for The Hospice Program which will help to support Atlantic Hospice’s commitment to nurturing the body, mind and spirit, an important element to living every day to its fullest at the end of life.

Michele Cameron, Manager of Business Development and Community Outreach, and Diane Coloney, Volunteer Coordinator, of Atlantic Home Care & Hospice, are serving as co-chairs of this year’s kitchen tour in collaboration with the Auxiliary with the aim of raising funds to develop a complementary therapy program for Atlantic Hospice patients and their families.

Complementary therapies add an extra dimension to that peace and comfort. These non-invasive, holistic practices do not replace the medical, social or spiritual care of the hospice team; rather they enhance the care to promote comfort and wholeness for both patients and their families.  Massage Therapy, Reflexology, Healing Touch and Reiki-therapies that all help address pain, anxiety, sleeplessness and isolation by utilizing adaptable interventions to meet each patient’s unique needs.  Licensed practitioners work with patients across a range of functional ability, supporting them through a peaceful and dignified dying process. Likewise, music is a powerful element of life that energizes, soothes, restores and nurtures.  Music therapists work with hospice patients throughout all stages of their journey, fostering meaning and comfort. Music therapy is especially nurturing to patients with end-stage dementia who are unable to communicate verbally.

This year’s Kitchen Tour will offer a wide variety of houses and kitchen styles within the Summit area. The time and dedication of each homeowner in creating a unique and beautiful space is evident in every kitchen on the tour. Tickets will be available for purchase October 2nd through October 26th at Lois Schneider Realtor, The Gift Shop and Bloom Florist, and Paperfolio or online at
