MORRISTOWN, NJ - Atlantic Health System, an integrated health care delivery system and parent of Summit's Overlook Medical Center, has been named to both the "2017 Best Workplaces for Parents" and "2017 Best Workplaces for Diversity" lists by Great Place to Work and Fortune.

This is the second year in a row that the organization work environments have earned a place on these exclusive lists. Other recognized companies include Comcast and American Express.

In being chosen as one of the "Best Workplaces for Parents," Atlantic Health System was credited with providing opportunities and benefits that allowed working parents to flourish. The "Best Workplaces for Diversity" recognition reflects the organization’s commitment to building inclusive workplaces that bring together individuals from many backgrounds, ethnicities, ages and orientations.

“A key element in building healthier communities is creating a workforce that reflects the rich diversity of the communities we serve,” said Nikki Sumpter, senior vice president and chief human resources officer. “Every team member at Atlantic Health System strives to deliver the excellent care our patients deserve.  We are proud to do so in a way that appreciates our differences, and protects the work-life balance that enables families to thrive.”

"The ''Best Workplaces for Parents' earn superior performance from their teams by tapping into the full potential of their colleagues with children,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “The ''Best Workplaces for Diversity' have achieved something beyond basic fairness. They find ways to connect with each and every employee, listening to their challenges and building on their talents.”

For Atlantic Health System (AHS), 2017 has been a year of much recognition. This past spring, AHS received its ninth consecutive annual ranking on Fortune’s list of the "100 Best Companies to Work For."  It was also selected by Great Place to Work and Fortune as one of the "Best Workplaces in Health Care," "Best Workplaces in New York" (region), and "Best Workplaces for Women."

Great Place to Work based its "Best Workplaces for Diversity" ranking on a data-driven methodology applied to anonymous Trust Index survey responses from 442,624 employees at Great Place to Work-Certified organizations, with the "Best Workplaces for Parents" ranking also based on a data-driven methodology applied to anonymous Trust Index survey responses from 443,258 employees at Great Place to Work-Certified organizations.
